John McClain, an interior designer, speaker, business coach and on-air contributor, is turning his lifetime passion for design into an opportunity to teach others the essential tips and tricks of the trade with the release of his book, “The Designer Within: A Professional Guide to a Well-Styled Home.”
“The Designer Within” is intended to be a roadmap for aspiring interior design professionals and homeowners, explaining each step of the design process, from conception to completion. In the book, McClain breaks down the requirements for professionally designing every type of space, from kitchens to powder rooms, giving readers a list of actionable items to implement within their own homes and projects.
“I want readers of my book — whether they are homeowners about to embark on their first renovation or seasoned design professionals looking for new ideas — to come away feeling confident and inspired to bring their design visions to life,” McClain says. The book’s pages are illustrated with many of McClain’s design projects, from traditional to midcentury modern to contemporary.
In conjunction with the book release, McClain will offer readers two online interior design courses: “The Designer Within: Homeowner” and “The Designer Within: Business.” Each class will teach his method for successfully becoming an interior designer, whether in a home project or starting an interior design business. The business edition also includes the systems, processes, marketing, contracts, templates and practical, easy-to-implement business structures that interior design professionals need every day, McClain says.
The book will be released Sept. 6 and is available now for presale anywhere books are sold. Signed copies are available at TheDesignerWithin.co. More information about McClain’s courses also can be found on that website.
