Market musings: Was High Point Fall 2023 a successful market?

The patchiness of the market’s attendance highlighted that what the big box buyers want and what the new class of interior designers want is diverging in a major way, forcing some brands to pick a lane

This new collection of pillows was inspired from the Bavarian painter Barbara Regina Dietzsch. Reimagining colors and hues into a jewel saturated tone, we rendered these finches into a larger than life form on our silky satin fabric and created pillows that accent any space indoors and out. Covers are all removable, machine washable, and fade resistant.

Shoppe Object delivers continuous growth with shiny new second venue for Feb NYC showing

New York – September 29, 2023: Shoppe Object, New York’s premier trade event for curated home and gift, has announced that their February show (February 4-6, 2024) will be expand- ing yet again, including a second venue to accommodate rapid growth. In lieu of the tent that previously maximized Shoppe Object’s Pier 36 home, the event has added a venue twice the size – the recently renovated Skylight at Essex Crossing in the heart of Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The two neighboring venues are less than a mile apart – Pier 36 and Essex Crossing – and will house the entirety of the expanded show, with convenient, frequent shuttles running between the two locations.

Since its launch, Shoppe Object has seen near-continuous growth in both attendance and Exhibitor count. From a humble beginning of 100 brands at inception, the show debuted an expanded two-pavilion footprint in 2023 with a market of over 500 Exhibitors – a 30% increase from its at-capacity showing in Pier 36 the previous year. This new extension to Essex Crossing doubles that additional space, allowing for a longer roster of curated brands, an ability to accommodate larger booths, and a renewed emphasis on the spirit of discovery that sets the event apart.

The growth in Exhibitors is sure to bring an influx of Buyers. Since its first post-pandemic show in September 2021, Shoppe Object’s credentialed Buyer attendance has grown steadily year-over-year, with an average growth of 55%.

“We’re spreading our wings once again,” said the show’s founder and director, Jesse James. “Over the past two shows we delivered a 30% increase by adding a tent at our Pier 36 home, and now it’s time to double that. With the addition of this brand new venue, part of the Essex Crossing complex and right at the subway hub, we have twice as much room to grow as the tent provided previously. That, and we retain our combined footprint squarely in the heart of Manhattan’s thriving Lower East Side, with two great venues in close proximity. It provides an excellent opportunity for us to bring meaningful growth to our community while continuing to deliver the very best brands from around the world to the New York market.”

Shoppe Object, in collaboration with their parent company ANDMORE (previously IMC), selected Skylight at Essex Crossing for its dramatic architecture and distinctive feeling, as well as its prime location adjacent to the bustling Essex Market and The Market Line, and its prox- imity to Pier 36. The show promises seamless entrance at either venue with shuttles running the walkable distance between the two buildings. The market’s focus and expertise will continue to be on discovery, careful curation and merchandising, bringing Buyers only the most de- sign-forward and high-quality brands across home and gift.

The show will take place Sunday through Tuesday, February 4-6, 2024 between Pier 36 (299 South Street, NYC, NY 10002) and Essex Crossing (135 Delancey Street, NYC, NY 10002 – directly above the Essex & Delancey Street subway stops).
