Yarn Collective and Sister by Studio Ashby unveil The Aurora Collection

Aug 2025 | London, UK – British textile studio Yarn Collective and Sister by Studio Ashby proudly introduces The Aurora Collection, marking a celestial new chapter in the studios evolving fabric story. Dreamed up by Sophie Ashby, founder of Studio Ashby and Sister by Studio Ashby and brought to life by Yarn Collective’s co-founder and textile designer James Gomez, The Aurora Collection takes its name and spirit from the quiet majesty of early light – a love letter to dawn, morning skies, and the quiet alchemy of night turning into day.

As an independent luxury British textile studio which retails across North America and Canada, Yarn Collective are known for their responsible sourcing, use of recycled and natural fibres, and thoughtful approach to development and design. As such, each of the fabrics within The Aurora Collection is grounded in tactility with a quietly conscious approach to sustainability.

The collection features two intricate patterns – Paloma and Odessa – and three plains – Sacha, Atlasand Astro. From misty teals to saffron-infused yellows, each fabric evokes a different facet of the sky’s quiet performance at sunrise.

Odessa is painterly pattern inspired by the soft, gentle haze of early morning skies. Crafted from a luxurious linen-cotton blend, it mimics drifting clouds and subtle, misty hues. The beauty of Odessa lies in its artisanal creation – hand-printed and meticulously woven – resulting in subtle variations that enhance its unique, handcrafted charm.

Paloma, by contrast, celebrates celestial movement with a lyrical repeat, creating a modern, striking interpretation of a plaid. This expressive fabric is created by a unique blend of warp printing and weaving techniques with pure cotton threads, a delicate technique that creates slight variations.

The plains – Astro, Atlas and Sacha – form the grounding element of the Aurora palette. With a rich tactility and palette inspired by stardust, sleepy skies, and golden first light, the textiles serve as quiet counterparts to their patterned siblings – versatile yet distinct in tone and texture. Astro is a structured linen with the full-bodied character of a classic curtain fabric.

With its quiet tone and natural texture, it balances softness with substance – ideal for anchoring a space in calm, contemporary style. Atlas is a soft, richly tactile linen velvet, designed for luxurious upholstery. Combining comfort with an elevated, grounded aesthetic, it offers a timeless alternative to more traditional velvets. Sacha is a crisp linen sheer that brings lightness and subtle texture to any space. Its understated elegance makes it ideal for layering, softening interiors with a refined, airy feel.

Sophie Ashby, founder and creative director of Studio Ashby and Sister by Studio Ashby, comments: “The Aurora Collection was born from that fleeting moment between night and day – a palette of memories and moods: the silvery quiet of early morning, teal-tinted skies, and the warmth of a rising sun. I’ve long been moved by the sky’s ability to tell stories in colour, and this capsule captures that emotion in woven form.”

“Working with Sister on this second textile collection has been a real joy,” says James Gomez, co- founder of Yarn Collective. “There’s something special about developing fabrics to tell such a poetic story. From the composition to the texture and tone, each fabric was chosen to echo Sophie’s vision and create a timeless collection, with purpose and longevity in mind.”
