William Morris At Home debuts in the US through Stout Textiles

The new fabric line provides authentic William Morris designs to the design trade at a moderate price.

Colmar, PA (June 20, 2024) – Stout Textiles, in partnership with its long-term UK-based affiliate Ashley Wilde Group, debuts the new William Morris At Home line of fabric in the United States. William Morris At Home is an authentic Morris brand in partnership with the William Morris Gallery, a not-for-profit organization based in Morris’ childhood home in Walthamstow, England.

William Morris At Home fabric debuts with two collections: Kelmscott Gardens Volumes I and II. The name was taken from the timeless allure of Kelmscott Manor, Morris’s home where he spent most of his time and found endless inspiration from its enchanting gardens, rustic barns, and meadows. The patterns showcase iconic vibrant prints, opulent velvets, and sumptuous jacquards that embody charming nature and botanical beauty, paying homage to Morris’ legacy.

William Morris, an iconic poet, writer, and activist, believed that art should be for the people, by the people. He valued simplicity, utility, and beauty and championed nature as the inspiration for everything. Inspired by these beliefs, the collections combine beauty with attainability and sustainability.

With privileged access, the fabric designs from William Morris At Home have been taken from the William Morris Gallery archives, ensuring an authentic and timeless touch. Home to the largest William Morris archive in the world, the William Morris Gallery worked directly with Ashley Wilde Group to oversee and create William Morris at Home designs. Every William Morris At Home purchase supports the Gallery, bringing his beautiful, enduring legacy to future generations.

“We have worked with Ashley Wilde Group for nearly a decade, bringing original European designs stateside,” says John Greenawalt, Vice President of Operations at Stout Textiles. “When Ashley Wilde Group informed us of their work with the William Morris Gallery and the creation of the William Morris At Home line of fabric, we knew our designer trade market would welcome an attainable line of William Morris designs, which will further strengthen his legacy and admiration within our industry.”

William Morris himself designed his beautiful pieces at a price that was attainable for the masses, which is a core value of why William Morris At Home was created. The debut of William Morris At Home includes both reworked and original designs, new colorations, and a variety of different base cloths in both print and woven techniques. The fabrics are sold to the trade at a mid-level price point. For more information about William Morris At Home, please visit www.stouttextiles.com.
