Los Angeles interior design
The inaugural edition of DESIGN MIAMI.LA concluded yesterday, Monday 20 May 2024, following a five day show at a private Holmby Hills estate. The new West Coast fair offered a dynamic program of collectible design, serving as a testament to California’s rich design heritage as an international arbiter of taste.
Today, Frieze unveiled highlights of the fifth edition of Frieze Los Angeles, once again steered by Christine Messineo (Director of Americas, Frieze). Running February 29 – March 3 at Santa Monica Airport, the fair brings together over 95 of the world’s leading galleries under one roof, showcasing a cross-section of today’s most exciting and influential contemporary art from across the globe. Continuing Frieze’s commitment to supporting the wider Los Angeles arts ecosystem, this year sees the return of the Santa Monica Art Bank Acquisition Fund.
Los Angeles-based designer Kim Colwell has a transformational approach to interior design—one that intricately weaves together environmental psychology and the principles of feng shui. Rooted in her early experiences within her grandparents’ historic home and influenced by her mother’s background as a shaman and clinical psychologist, Colwell’s design philosophy revolves around understanding how environments shape human development and what interior designers can do about it.
Presented by Saatchi Art, The Other Art Fair returned to Santa Monica for its 10th Los Angeles edition from September 21st to 24th at Barker Hangar. The global art event, dedicated to showcasing emerging talent and unforgettable experiences, will feature 140 independent artists exhibiting thousands of original artworks across various media—including painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, fiber arts, ceramics, and more—priced between $100 and $10,000. Tomoko Imade Dyen’s tea omakase was detailed and intimate and elegant and while she is not a designer nor a potter, she became a “main character” that night in telling the “story” of OWIU Goods. Without characters helping tell the story and show how to use the products in new and interesting ways, you can limit growth and miss out on reaching potential consumers. Sometimes finding those characters is obvious. In this case, Tomoko is an expert in elevated culinary experiences, helping to market to those who appreciate them too and can use OWIU Goods to enhance their own everyday culinary experiences.
In 2023, he launched an online store, Ryan Saghian Mode-De-Vie, which features a curated collection of furnishings, art, and accessories from his favorite trade vendors and artisans. He is one of the first interior designers to embrace the metaverse with his own virtual showroom, optimized for a fully interactive VR experience. Saghian received his Bachelor’s of Science in Interior Architecture and Design from the Art Institute of California.
