Gift for life expands Home vs Hunger fundraising in Vegas

Las Vegas, NV – July 8, 2024 – Gift for Life, the gift and home industries’ longest-running, volunteer-led national charitable organization, is thrilled to announce the expansion of its successful Home vs Hunger fundraising campaign at Summer 2024 Las Vegas Market, July 28 – August 1, 2024, at World Market Center Las Vegas.

This expansion marks a significant milestone for Home vs Hunger, previously held exclusively at High Point Market.  The initiative in Las Vegas is spearheaded by CMA Gift & Home, a prominent sales agency serving the western states. Emalee Hoffman, co-chair of Gift for Life and VP of Sales for CMA, said, “I’m excited to lead this kickoff and look forward to enthusiastic participation by CMA vendors. We invite other Las Vegas Market exhibitors – whether manufacturers or sales agencies – to join us in raising funds for World Central Kitchen’s crisis-related hunger relief efforts.”

The first-ever Las Vegas Home vs Hunger fundraising campaign encourages manufacturers to pledge donations towards hunger relief efforts (e.g., $1 per order, rounding up to the nearest dollar per order, etc.).  Las Vegas Market exhibitors joining this initiative will receive prominent recognition in Gift for Life’s marketing efforts and each participant will receive a sign, with an interactive QR code, for display in their booth or showroom encouraging retailers to contribute as well. In partnership with home industry leaders and market makers, Gift for Life’s debuted its Home vs Hunger initiative at High Point Market in October 2022. Fundraising activities have included in-person events at High Point Market in Fall 2022, Spring 2023 and Spring 2024, as well as an online campaigns in February 2023 following devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and in August 2023 following destructive wildfires in Maui. With broad industry support, more than $60,000 has been raised to date for World Central Kitchen’s crisis related hunger relief efforts.

Gift for Life, the gift and home industry’s longest-running, volunteer-led charitable organization, was founded by Peter Schauben in 1992 in response to the tragic loss of industry lives to AIDS. The organization’s first meeting at the National Stationery Show brought together a cross-section of the industry’s leading publishers, market centers, sales reps, manufacturers, and retailers – all willing to convene and work together towards a common goal. Since that time, Gift for Life has raised nearly $6 million for AIDS research, education, treatment and care through nationwide at-market events, cause marketing programs and direct donations.
