Shoppe Object names Jo Faulkner artist of the season

NEW YORK — Shoppe Object has named Jo Faulkner its Artist of the Season for the upcoming Winter 2026 edition, to be held Feb. 1–3 at the Starrett-Lehigh Building in New York City. London-based Faulkner is recognized for her expressive approach to capturing countryside vistas and floral studies, working across watercolor, gouache and oil.

“The Artist of the Season series has been in place since the very first Shoppe Object, born of our core tenets of community and creativity, and as a way to celebrate talented artists through the visual expression of each event,” said Jesse James, founder of Shoppe Object. “Jo Faulkner has a remarkable way of breathing life into her work, whether in a pastoral landscape or a still object, and we are honored to share her point of view through a special exhibition at the upcoming New York show.”

Faulkner’s artistic journey has been marked by the influence of travel, nature, and the quiet discipline of daily sketching—capturing moments that feel both familiar and newly discovered. Her practice is shaped by meditative observation, spontaneous experimentation, and creative authenticity.

“Artist of the Season is one of our community’s favorite parts of each show because it’s always deeply personal and uniquely inspiring,” says Renata Bokalo, Shoppe Object Show Director. “Jo Faulkner will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective with her balance between negative space and natural forms, continuing the tradition of past featured artists such as Jeff Wallace, Ruby Bateman, Diane Vaquerano, James Gallagher, and many more.”

Shoppe Object attendees will be able to visit the Artist of the Season exhibition, where they can meet Faulker and draw inspiration from her paintings and prints, some of which she will have for sale. Her artwork will also be featured across Shoppe Object’s seasonal storytelling throughout the space.

“I hope my paintings convey tenderness and a sense of calm,” Faulkner adds. “By focusing on natural landscapes, I aim to celebrate nature’s wild beauty while also acknowledging what is being lost. But I also love the idea that the viewer might find their own personal meaning in the work.” Shoppe Object is open to a trade audience of buyers, retailers, shop owners, interior designers, and tastemakers.
