Product watch: Rugs

The rug defines the room, and we’ve assembled 10 new and notable standouts, with an emphasis on texture and story.

Jaipur Living has introduced six handmade wool rugs in two patterns — Avis and Solum — as part of its Bradley Odom x Jaipur Living line. Avis features a delicate, abstracted avian motif in nature-inspired tones; Solum (shown here) explores grounding geometry and earthy palettes. Both designs showcase thoughtful textural contrasts and are designed for a natural patina with time, the company says.

Art Hide has expanded its collaboration with designer Sasha Bikoff, re-envisioning three bestsellers as lab-dipped, single-tone colorways. The new premium hide rugs include Shibori, a design that pairs Japanese artistry with modern luxury in black, charcoal and gray gradations with gold detail. Also new is Fragments, which combines 1970s patchwork with high fashion in Patina Blue, Pink Clay, Coffee and Petrol hues; and Pastiche, with a bold geometric pattern, in Starlight Blue and Olive (shown here).

Calypso is part of a new line of rugs from outdoor specialist Brown Jordan, which believes “every surface, from the ground up, should embody intention and refinement.” Calypso, woven of Royaltron polypropylene with a touch of Polysilk, is available in four colorways: Shimmer, Skipping Stone, Oyster and Ratan. All 11 designs in the new Brown Jordan rug line are made of solution-dyed polypropylene to resist fading; the densely woven rugs are also antimicrobial and moisture resistant.

Designer Thomas Pheasant has launched a five-design rug line with Ben Soleimani. The group, inspired by the beauty and symmetry of European museums and historic gardens, features rich textures and — as seen here in the Composition rug in Spruce — architectural grid forms. Hints of green and blue infuse the largely neutral palette of the collection. All rugs are hand knotted with premium New Zealand wool.

Ines Reed (shown here), a new tufted design from Kasthall, began as an experiment in paper folding and collages. The resulting rug, made of wool and linen yarns, adds texture and soft volume to any room. Also new from Kasthall is Ingrid Icon, a woven rug with refined texture and architectural balance, made of wool and linen yarns. Both designs are available in eight colorways.

Eliko Rugs by David Ariel has partnered with designer Anne-Marie Barton of AMB Design for a collection of 27 rug styles handwoven in India and made of wool, mohair, alpaca and cashmere. Infused with Barton’s relaxed indoor-outdoor sensibility, the rugs were inspired by nature’s organic forms and textures. Journey (shown here) is made of hand-knotted wool with a medium pile.

Manor, a new design from Capel, is rooted in the quiet elegance and grandeur of traditional interiors and inspired by Persian florals and architectural features for timeless appeal. The India-made wool and nylon rug, available in four sizes and eight colorways, is shown here in Cadet.

A new eight-design Madi collection is part of an expansion of the Brigette Romanek × Loloi line. The MDX-02 shown here is hand tufted of 100% wool in India.

Subtle lines define the six designs in the Agape collection from Feizy. Each is hand knotted of wools from Iran and New Zealand and available in seven sizes. Model 69H9F is shown in Gray.

This Palm rug, with its simple, dramatic leaf pattern, is part of a Beyond Borders collection of rugs hand knotted by artisans using traditional techniques, offered by Holly Hunt. Designers can choose the size, color and yarn type to customize.
