Wallpaper with maximum impact

Ryan Saghian collaborated with S. Harris, and the result is a playful, amped up toile wallpaper with an LA twist.

Pairing a cheeky, insider’s wink with a timeless toile style, Los Angeles-based interior designer Ryan Saghian has created a must-have wallpaper. Called “La Toile-WP,” the chic monochromatic print is a collaboration between Saghian and S. Harris, a leading supplier of innovative, high-end designer wallcoverings.

The wallpaper is already all-star approved: Saghian originally created a similar, LA-inspired pattern for the home of one of his private interior design clients, a top-ranked NBA player. “I love traditional interiors and I love toile wallpapers,” Saghian explains. Toile features a repeating pattern—originally a pastoral scene—and has been used in design since the 1700s. “I thought it would be cool to incorporate Los Angeles icons in a traditional toile style,” says Saghian.

For the S. Harris toile, Saghian features nods to LA like the Hollywood sign, the Frank Gehry designed Walt Disney Concert Hall, an Oscar, the Griffith Observatory, and what Saghian calls “a glam girl getting on her makeup.” After all, he notes, “I’m born and raised in Los Angeles, one of the world’s coolest cities, and had fun featuring all these iconic landmarks I grew up around.”

“We are interested in cultivating relationships with emerging design talents, who are immersed in their creative expression,” says S. Harris’s chief brand officer and creative director, Jodi Finer. “Ryan exemplifies this idea, and his design aesthetic directly relates to the storytelling of our brand.”

The rollicking, yet sophisticated wallpaper would be perfect for use in a powder room, home theater, man cave or bedroom. “I’d also suggest putting it in a dining room by customizing the design to use a lighter color such as an ivory ground with charcoal illustrations,” says Saghian.
