Griffith Park offers organic textures and timeless simplicity while sophistication meets comfort as Avaline merges European elegance with modern design
HIGH POINT, N.C., April 12, 2024 – Universal Furniture will introduce two exquisite new furniture collections during April Furniture Market: Griffith Park and Avaline. The collections exemplify Universal Furniture’s continued commitment to craftsmanship, timeless design, and unparalleled comfort with the design versatility that customers have come to expect from the company.
Griffith Park
Rooted in steadfast familiarity and organic transitional styling, the Griffith Park Collection offers a refreshing take on casual comfort and timeless design. Crafted from oak solids and oak veneers, each piece features wire brushed and sandblasted finishes. Some items also include Danish cord and hand forged metal. Stone pieces in the collection have a live edge detail. With 74 SKUs, including upholstery options, Griffith Park embodies simplicity and sophistication.
Noteworthy pieces from the Griffith Park Collection include the Marla Chair, reminiscent of a comforting teddy bear with its highly textured fabric. The Gemma Hexagon Ottoman is petite but particularly versatile, available in round and square versions in fabric or leather with contrast welt and button details. The Canyon Spot Table also draws the eye, designed using the cross section of a tree for intriguing wood details.
Griffith Park’s more sizable pieces of note include the Altitude Console, a craftsman inspired console featuring exposed joinery and rectilinear forms paired with a heavily sandblasted but warm knotty oak veneer top. The Sienna Credenza is simplistic in feel but features intricate joinery details.
“The Griffith Park Collection celebrates the beauty of simplicity and organic textures, inviting warmth and comfort into every home,” said Neil MacKenzie, senior vice president marketing at Universal Furniture. “Whether it’s the Sienna Credenza, Gemma Hexagon Ottoman, or Altitude Console, each piece reflects our dedication to quality craftsmanship and timeless design.”
Avaline
Thoroughly American in feel yet drawing inspiration from European elegance, the Avaline Collection is a testament to sophistication and refinement. From the modern tambour case peices to the Klismos inspired dining chair, each piece showcases French and Greek influences with a modern twist.
Avaline features clean lines, light finishes, and a harmonious blend of wire-brushed oak solids, and oak veneers, and exquisite accents such as cast aluminum, grey travertine and cast glass. With a total of 59 SKUs, including upholstery options, the Avaline Collection offers versatility and timeless appeal.
“The Avaline Collection effortlessly marries classic European aesthetics with contemporary sensibilities, resulting in furniture pieces that are both elegant and warm,” said MacKenzie.
Prominent items from the Avaline Collection include the Owen Storage Bed, featuring full upholstery and a spacious storage drawer spanning its width, providing discreet storage. The bed has seamless mitered joints and a continuous upholstered finish that is elevated and modern.
The Carmen Round Dining Table from the Avaline Collection has simple, reeded tambour on an oak base, accented with the soft curve of the round top. The table is especially striking when paired with the Raen Upholstered Side Chairs, a Klismos inspired chair that feels updated and and modern.
Also of note in Avaline is the Dolce Credenza, a bold statement piece accenting geometric forms, finished in an antiqued silver leaf. The doors have a three-dimensional geometric design, behind which sits adjustable shelves, wire management, touch latches and a convenient power bar. The impressive size of the piece – 85 ¾” x 19” x 33” make Dolce the center of attention in any room.
Equally as impressive is the Avaline Monet Console, featuring an embossed wood veneer that gives the look of grasscloth. This unique texture begs to be touched, and a natural element emanates from the piece. The Gazela Swivel Chair and Carmen Spot Table are also texture forward, with reeded tambour accents that make them visually striking and perfect companions for an evening of cocktails.
Both the Griffith Park and Avaline collections will be on display at the Universal Furniture showroom during April Furniture Market.
