Los Angeles architecture
Los Angeles’ premier design district undergoes a transformative rebrand, evolving from La Cienega Design Quarter (LCDQ) to Design Los Angeles. This new identity celebrates LA’s global growth as a creative hub, featuring exclusive showrooms, galleries, and the renowned Legends festival, with a focus on recovery efforts for communities impacted by wildfires.
Nestled into the sandstone ledge of a Los Angeles hillside, the Sheats-Goldstein residence blurs the lines between building, furniture and natural surroundings. Its bold triangular forms, sculpted from poured-in-place concrete, appear to grow organically from the landscape, maximizing city and hillside views through walls of glass.
Sustainability was always part of Greg Roth’s personal ethos, but it didn’t become the central focus of his professional life until Stephen Pallrand challenged him to design a home with zero carbon footprint. The project was Casa Zero and would become the first CarbonShack case study house in Los Angeles.
