Opening today: 2024 Seoul Design Festival to Showcase “Design That Changes the Game”

SEOUL, South Korea – November 13-17, 2024 – The Seoul Design Festival, a leading international event in the design industry, returns this November to celebrate its 23rd year with a new theme: “Design That Changes the Game: Game Changer.” This year’s festival will highlight groundbreaking innovation and the creators who are redefining the design landscape with sharp insight and bold creativity. From product design to industry-shaping trends, the event will offer unique networking and business opportunities while presenting an array of exhibitions from leading global brands, designers, and international participants.

Under this theme, the 2024 Seoul Design Festival seeks to foster a spirit of innovation by spotlighting “game changers”—designers who push boundaries, defy conventions, and reimagine industry norms. This year’s festival will serve as a platform for these designers to discuss the evolving attitudes and mindsets needed to succeed in today’s creative landscape.

Seoul Design Festival and Design Korea 2024 to be held jointly

For the first time, the Seoul Design Festival will host the Korean Design Festival in collaboration with Design House, the Seoul Design Foundation, the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. The collaboration aims to elevate Korean design on an international scale, emphasizing the resurgence of “K-design” and reinforcing Korea’s position as a major player in the global design industry. This partnership will enable both events to offer a richer experience for attendees, combining Seoul Design Festival’s rich content and network with the Korean Design Festival’s emphasis on craft and cultural heritage.

Spotlight on emerging talent and ESG innovation

The Young Designer Promotion program will once again feature prominently, highlighting 40 designers selected by Monthly Design magazine and the Seoul Design Festival as emerging stars of Korea’s design scene. This initiative, which has nurtured nearly 950 designers over its 22-year history, provides young talents with mentorship opportunities, enabling them to grow into distinct brands and gain valuable exposure.

Additionally, attendees can explore a special Product Design Zone, showcasing items that emphasize color, material, and finish (CMF) while reflecting this year’s trends in technology, fashion, and sustainable practices. An ESG Design section will highlight leading Korean companies that are using design to address critical Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues, underscoring the role of design in tackling global challenges.

The 2024 Seoul Design Festival promises to be an inspiring gathering for industry professionals and design enthusiasts alike, celebrating both established and emerging talent who are changing the game in the world of design.
