Experience Custom Creations and Curated Vintage Finds at 3601 S Congress Ave
MK Workshop is set to unveil its new interior design showroom on September 26th, located in the heart of Austin’s vibrant South Congress district. The showroom, nestled within the historic Penn Field—a former 1918 airfield—offers a unique blend of custom and vintage designs. Visitors are invited, by appointment only, to explore a carefully curated collection of bespoke furniture, handwoven fabrics, and custom rugs in a space designed to feel like home.
This week on Disruptive Design, DNN Editor in Chief Courtney Porter sat down with MK Workshop founders, Petra McKenzie and Jonah Kilday, to discuss their new showroom opening, what vendors they’re using over and over again, and designing for young tech-industry clients. The showroom features signature pieces such as the award-winning Geometry Rug line, along with prototypes of the “cube” nightstand, “circles” counter stool, and the origami coffee table. Exclusive lighting from Blueprint Lighting, available only at this location in Texas, will also be showcased.
In addition to full interior design services, MK Workshop offers design assistance for fabric selections, custom designs, and pattern creation. Clients can customize rugs and fabrics in size, color, and fiber content, as well as furniture finishes, ensuring each piece meets their specific needs.
To mark the grand opening on September 26th, MK Workshop will host a special event for press, past and current clients. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the showroom, meet the designers, and experience firsthand the unique blend of new and old that defines MK Workshop’s approach to conscious and sustainable design.
