Patton will be formally recognized at the Cornerstone Dinner on February 29, 2025 at River Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
Houston, TX (November 20, 2024) – Houston-based interior designer Mary Patton has received the prestigious 2025 Good Brick Award from Preservation Houston, recognizing her exceptional work in preserving the architectural integrity of her historic home. This award celebrates Patton’s dedication to historic preservation and her commitment to honoring Houston’s architectural heritage.
The awards jury praised Patton’s project for its respectful approach to restoration, noting her careful preservation of key design elements while adapting the home to meet contemporary needs. The jury was especially impressed by her commitment to retaining the original vision of architect Paul László through meticulous exterior work that reflects his design aesthetic. This award acknowledges Patton’s vision in rehabilitating the home amidst a wave of redevelopment in Braeswood, underscoring the importance of safeguarding Houston’s historical architecture.
“I’m deeply honored to receive this award. After a decade in interior design, I’ve come to realize how essential preservation is. This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects a shared appreciation for valuing what already exists and finding ways to enhance it, rather than replacing it simply because we can” says Patton.
