New Board Will Further Interior Design Industry and Its Global Impact
(June 23, 2023 – Washington, D.C.) – The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has announced the next slate of its National Board of Directors. Appointed to amplify the ASID mission and advance the impact of the practice, the board is comprised of three officers (Chair, Chair-Elect, Past-Chair), seven at-large directors, an industry partner representative, and ex officio.
The new slate begins on October 1, 2023, and continues through the 2024 fiscal year.
“ASID’s National Board of Directors plays an integral role in the growth of the design community and the influence impacted by design professionals,” said John Cialone, FASID, NCIDQ, chair of ASID’s FY 2024 Board. “Each board member shows a dedication to the industry in their own work and advocacy that translates to our work together with ASID, as we unite to improve the practice. As the new members and I step into our new roles, I’m excited to see how the team will collaborate to tackle the challenges facing all sectors of the design world in the year ahead.”
The board acts as ASID’s governing body and leads it by advising, governing and policy setting. Through the implementation of their proposed strategies, the board will guide ASID and exemplify the profession’s goal to influence lives and affect positive change in all aspects of the world. The diverse backgrounds and varied experience of the board members bring unique perspectives that support ASID as the industry’s leading organization. The 12 members include:

John Cialone, FASID, NCIDQ | Chair
Cialone is a nationally recognized interior designer and leads a team of more than twenty professionals at Chicago-based Tom Stringer Design Partners (TSDP). As a partner and vice president of the firm, Cialone’s enthusiasm for promoting the interior design profession is contagious. With over twenty-five years of experience, his work has been recognized with many awards and has been widely published in magazines like Traditional Home, Luxe, California Living, Western Art & Architecture, Palm Beach, and Modern Luxury. He has served as a public speaker to many organizations and has mentored students across the country. Cialone and TSDP have participated in the 1+ Program, donating the firm’s services and aligning his belief that Design Impacts Life with the firm’s work.
David Euscher, ASID, LEED AP, Associate AIA, WELL AP | Chair-Elect
As vice president and interiors studio leader, Euscher has found his sweet spot leading a team of talented interior designers as a coach and mentor — a task he also sees as equal parts art and science and one that can have a powerful effect. With nearly 30 years of experience, he has designed and led interior projects for corporate commercial, multi-family, academic, retail, and healthcare clients — among others. Regardless of the sector, he approaches each project with a desire to improve the well-being of the people served by the space. Euscher’s thoughtful approach has led to exceptional results for clients facing all types of circumstances, including navigating the challenges of the pandemic to develop a new workspace and designing a multi-faith chapel with several faith traditions in mind.
Toni Gocke Wyre, FASID, LEED AP, WELL AP | Past-Chair
Wyre is a commercial interior designer and educator specializing in Education, Healthcare and Corporate Interiors. Her work and professionalism have been recognized with multiple honors, including Arkansas Business’ Publishing Group’s Top 40 under 40 Professionals and Women2Watch, as well as At Home in Arkansas Magazine’s “Favorite Local Designers”. Over the last decade, her work has received over 36 regional design awards, crossing all sectors, from residential and corporate to hospitality, healthcare and education. In addition to contributing to interiors projects at Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects as a Senior Associate, Wyre is a Clinical Instructor of Interior Design at the University of Central Arkansas in their CIDA-accredited program. Most recently, she has served as committee chairperson for two taskforces on behalf of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and is a former Director-at-Large.
Margi Kaminski, ASID, CLBG, NCIDQ | Director at-Large
As Principal and Director of CannonDesign’s Health Interiors Practice, Kaminski supports market initiatives and strategy, focusing on business growth and client engagement. With over 30 years’ experience in practice, she has led a wide range of notable projects for many of the healthcare industry’s leading systems such as Kaiser Permanente, Northwestern Medicine and Penn State Health to name a few. She is a frequent speaker at leading healthcare industry conferences and has been the recipient of design awards from ASID, Contract Magazine and The Chicago Atheneum. In 2019, the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, awarded Kaminski their “Member of Distinction,” the chapter’s highest honor. She is actively involved in student career development and has participated in many events that support and mentor on a local and national level.
Sarah W. Colandro, FASID, IIDA, LEED AP, WELL AP | Director at-Large
Colandro is the director of Interiors at AECOM. She’s been involved in a diverse range of projects for over 30 years, collaborating on teams of various backgrounds including architects, engineers and interior designers. Many of the projects span commercial environments from corporate offices and government spaces to educational institutions and recreation facilities. Throughout her career, she has been responsible for firm management, strategic planning, construction administration and more. Colandro previously served as a Board Member at Large for ASID from 2015-2017 and has served on a number of boards supporting local, regional, national and international organizations.
Denise Rush, FASID, IIDA, IDEC | Director at-Large
Rush is Dean and Faculty of the School of Interior Architecture, at Boston Architectural College. Prior to becoming a full-time academic administrator, she was an adjunct professor of Interior Architecture in the Art + Design department of Columbia College Chicago. She also formerly adjunct faculty at Harrington College of Design, the International Academy of Design & Technology, and the Illinois Institute of Art. Rush’s professional practice work includes an academic appointment as the Visiting Interior Designer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; interiors director at Perkins & Will (Chicago); interiors project manager at SmithGroup (Detroit); and head of interior design at TowerPinkster (Grand Rapids). She holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Spertus Institute of Jewish Leadership in Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts degree in interior design from Michigan State University.
Ken Wilson, ASID, FIIDA, FAIA, LEED Fellow | Director at-Large
Wilson is a design principal and the design director for Interiors in the Washington, D.C. office of Perkins+Will. He is also one of two co-global design directors for interiors and serves on Perkins and Will’s Design Board and Sustainability Council. Wilson has been practicing for over 35 years and his portfolio includes architecture, interiors, graphics, and product design. He is the only architect in the world to hold fellowships in the AIA, IIDA, and the Green Building Certification Institute (LEED Fellow). His projects have been published in seven different countries and have received over 120 national and local design awards. In 2005, Wilson was named “Designer of the Year” by Contract magazine, and in 2018, he received the ASID Designer of Distinction Award which annually honors one professional who has established a body of superior work demonstrating creativity, excellence, and innovation.
Caroline Gama, ASID | Director at-Large
An interior design graduate from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Gama is currently Principal of Caroline Gama Design, Inc., established in 1999. Gama began her ASID volunteer journey as an active student chapter member in 1992, moving on to serve on ASID’s National Student Council. She was awarded numerous scholarships, all in part attributed to her ASID student volunteerism and academic achievements. She held appointed and elected positions as Communications Director, Professional Development Director, President-elect and finally President for the Florida South Chapter. Over the years, Gama has made time to offer her expertise and financial resources to organizations such as Gilda’s Club of South Florida; His Caring Place; Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale and Native Relief Foundation, Inc.
Shundra Harris, ASID, RID, NCIDQ | Director at-Large
Harris is founder and principal of Shundra Harris Interiors (SHI), a professional member of American Society of Interior Designers, NCIDQ certified and a Texas Registered Interior Designer whose pursuit of thoughtful and intelligent design for all people and all spaces has made her a national leader in Design. Harris has taught seminars, continuing education classes, spoken at various events, and served as a design panelist on various subjects including Designing for Alzheimers, Healing Environments, Design Practices, and more. She is one of the Past Presidents of the American Society of Interior Designers, TX Gulf Coast Chapter. She now volunteers to write for the NCIDQ exam and has served the National Board of ASID as Chair of the Chapter Support Team. Harris is also on the National ASID Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
Ruju Jasani, ASID, IIDA, NCIDQ, SEED | Director at-Large
Jasani is the founder of Jasani Studio. The San Francisco-based creative practice uses interior and architectural design to connect place and people. Jasani brings more than two decades of global design and implementation expertise across sector and scale. Her projects in the United States, India and Mexico have earned awards from design: retail, VMSD and IIDA. Jasani serves as the national co-chairperson for the ASID Committee on Adaptive Living (CoAL). She is a writer and a speaker. Jasani has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture from the Academy of Art University and a bachelor’s degree in English from University of Mumbai. She is a professional member of ASID, ICSC, IIDA, AIA and SEED.
Teresa Humphrey, LEED AP ID+C | Industry Partner Representative
Humphrey is the Director of Commercial Specifications for Wilsonart Engineered Surfaces. Her career with Wilsonart spans more than 29 years through various roles within the sales organization. Supporting Wilsonart Surfaces destined for applications in commercial spaces across the globe, Humphrey spearheads the North American Commercial Specifications and National Account teams. Through a positive attitude and dedicated work ethic, Humphrey guides a Sales team of individuals who are committed to building and maintaining customer relationships within the Architectural and Design community.
Sheryl Connelly, ASID | Ex Officio
Connelly recently retired as the Chief Futurist for Ford Motor Company. For nearly two decades, Connelly and her team of designers, strategists and researchers led discussions on long-term thinking, planning and strategy. Her responsibilities included identifying global trends, exploring potential implications and cascading the futuring insights to organizations throughout the company, including design, product development and corporate strategy. Since 2019, Connelly has sat on the Board of Directors for the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health (formerly known as 2020Moms). In addition to a Juris Doctorate, she holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s in business administration.
