Lauren Rottet and Turri unveiled furnishings collaboration during Milan Design Week

Lauren Rottet, internationally celebrated architect and designer and founding principal and president of Rottet Studio, in partnership with Turri, makers of modern luxury furniture, debuted new furnishings that represented a collaboration between Rottet Collection and Turri during Milan Design Week at the Italian brand’s newly renovated flagship.

Furniture from the partnership was displayed alongside pieces designed specifically for the event in an exhibition titled “Weaving the World,” which highlighted artisan-led craftsmanship.

Highlights of the installation included the Rottet Collection-designed and Turri-produced James Desk in the office space.

“Named after its creator, James Cull, in our New York studio, the James Desk was conceived for a penthouse in the world’s tallest all-residential building, Central Park Tower, for which we designed all the interiors,” Rottet said. “We liked the name James Desk as it evokes the care and precision of a butler or a doctor, like my father who was also named James.”

The desk was positioned next to a bookshelf featuring iconic books on Italian design, as well as three new releases for spring 2025 from Rizzoli.

“Split Face,” a new line by Rottet for Atelier Vierkant, featured 7-foot, larger-than-life planters in rounded forms of textured clay, covered in a gold reflective glaze. The pieces were arranged in the courtyard.

The bedroom vignette included a sleek, curved lounge chair and ottoman resting on a new handmade rug from Sacco Carpet that Rottet designed to complement her Scutoid Collection. The installation had an organic, nonlinear feel, and expressed natural elements incorporated into interiors.

“The scutoid shape mimics the formation of organic cells bound together,” Rottet said. “It’s the shape between two cells, representing nature, and not rectangular, man-made forms.”

Other featured global makers included Texan Kyle Bunting’s patchwork hide rugs; Italian ceramicist Paola Paronetto’s vessels; Pimar limestone accessories; and vases by Gaetano Pesce, the Campana Brothers and Enzo Mari from Corsi Design.

“Weaving the World” debuted at Turri, Via Borgospesso 11, Milan, on Thursday, April 10, during Milan Design Week.
