Prominent Educational Institutions, Museums and Design Firms Among First Wave of Leaders Embracing Inclusive Opportunity
June 20, 2024 – Washington, D.C. – The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has unveiled an expanded membership structure designed to support professionals and organizations in the interior design industry. The new structure introduces four membership types—Affiliate Member, Firm Partner, Higher Education Partner, and Affiliate Partner—aimed at enhancing inclusivity and collaboration within the interior design community.
“ASID’s new member types make ASID membership even more inclusive and support the profession by offering new channels for those with diverse expertise to strengthen the interior design community,” said Khoi Vo, CEO of ASID. “Our existing member experience will only be enhanced by offering collaboration across our cross-sectoral community and providing fresh opportunities for collaboration. As we open our doors to new members and partners, our collective perspectives and expertise cement ASID’s position as the industry leader not only for all sectors of design, but for all those who make an impact through the profession, broadening our reach and strengthening the holistic impact of design.”
The four new ASID membership categories are:
- Affiliate Members: Individuals supporting the interior design profession without qualifying for other individual member categories.
- Firm Partner: Businesses with interior design services.
- Higher Education Partner: Post-secondary institutions, such as universities and accredited interior design schools.
- Affiliate Partners: Organizations aligned with the ASID mission but not falling under other membership categories.
Within the first quarter of 2024, ASID’s new membership structure saw the addition of four affiliate partners, five higher education partners, 25 firm partners, and 197 affiliate members, extending benefits to 1,065 professionals. The initiative aims to expand networks, build brand awareness, showcase achievements, and advance professional expertise through ASID’s resources, events, and recognition programs.
Notable founding members include the National Building Museum, Marymount University, Corey Damen Jenkins & Associates, Rottet Studio, SALT, and the University of Southern Mississippi. Each organization brings unique contributions to the diverse and growing ASID community.
