Rugs worth the buzz

From painterly, hand-knotted masterpieces to high-performance, velvety textures, these buzz-worthy rug launches bring a fresh design perspective underfoot. They’re an antidote to the sea of sameness created by the endless online scroll. Whether it’s a globetrotting collaboration influenced by Japanese ceramics, a fashion-forward nod to denim, or an ultra-soft alpaca weave, these rugs reflect an innovative, artful approach to floor coverings. Here, we spotlight five standout rug collections for the modern interior.

Alfredo Paredes x Patterson Flynn

Interior and product designer Alfredo Paredes has been on fire this year. He released a new book, opened his debut showroom at 313 Space at High Point Market, and now unveils a rug collaboration with Patterson Flynn. The collection is cool, versatile and unexpected, with urbane graphic patterns and fashion-forward nods reminiscent of Japanese denim.

The Amadi Rug Collection at Dixon Rye

Drawing inspiration from the natural stratification of rugged terrains, these hand-knotted wool rugs created by the Amadi family for Dixon Rye capture the organic beauty of weathered stone and sediment layers. The painterly compositions feature earthy palettes of ochre, rust, olive green, slate blue and charcoal, echoing the shifting tones and textures found in canyon walls and ancient rock formations.

Each hand-knotted piece embodies exceptional artistry through its abstract, layered design that offers both movement and groundedness, creating warm evocative focal points underfoot.

Christopher Farr x Makoto Kagoshima x Chariots on Fire

Japanese ceramicist Makoto Kagoshima is celebrated around the globe for his whimsical botanical motifs on vivid hand-painted ceramics. Kagoshima has joined forces with rug maker Christopher Farr and the Venice, California, design gallery Chariots on Fire on limited edition collectible rugs.

Each rug is handmade in Afghanistan, crafted from high-lanolin Ghazni wool and dyed using traditional hand-spun methods, the rugs feature a natural variation in color known as abrash, an effect that echoes Kagoshima’s expressive, textured ceramics.

Ege Carpets’ Abstract Rug Collection

Created by Ege Design Studio, the ‘Abstract’ rug line features 13 dramatic designs available in 36 variants. Utilizing an innovative three-dimensional cut and loop construction in regenerated and regenerable nylon, the carpets offer a lush, velvet-like texture enhancing both comfort and interior acoustics.

Rosemary Hallgarten

Sure, we’ve all experienced soft textiles—but have you ever sunk your feet into a Rosemary Hallgarten rug? One touch and it’s clear: someone spent serious time perfecting the hand. That someone is none other than the queen of alpaca herself, Rosemary Hallgarten.

Hallgarten’s exquisite neutrals are ideal for designers, offering flexibility in size, shape and configuration. Standout SKUs pictured above, including Flow, Shard and Bunny, build on the growing demand for Hallgarten’s signature softness.
